  17. E-Check is the best software to check your POP3 E-Mail accounts for new
  18. mail. Any feature you need is supported. Multi-account, modem dial up,
  19. MIME format, cool interface, low network loading. Just try it out.

  50. I want E-Check to be small, smart, and cool. I try hard to design the
  51. interface and wish everyone can easily use it without a manual (also,
  52. because I am lazy to write one). So, I just describe briefly here. If
  53. you still get a problem on using it, sorry about that. Just give me a
  54. mail.

  56. <Install & Uninstall>
  57.  
  58. Installation: Unzip it into a dir on your hard disk and make a short 
  59. cut on desktop for it. Then, run it, that's all. Surely, you must set
  60. up some options for the first time. They are nothing but common network 
  61. settings such as IP address, login name, and password. You must fill
  62. all the data need besides password. If you didn't enter a password in 
  63. the option page, E-Check will ask you for it when E-Check access the
  64. server for the first time, then the password will be remembered till
  65. you turn off E-Check.

  67. Uninstallation: I really hate some huge programs put a lot of trash
  68. everywhere in my hard disk. So I make E-Check a "Garbage-free-ware".
  69. All the files are put into the same dir and there is no need to install
  70. any other DLL or something. If you want to uninstall it, just kill
  71. the entire dir of E-Check.
  72.  
  73. <Hot Key, Popup Menu, Dockable Bar>
  74.  
  75. There are hot keys for you to execute some functions. You can see them 
  76. in the main menu. Popup menus are available for mail lists and tray icon.
  77. Just right click on them, then the popup menu will appear. The buttons 
  78. on the main window are dockable, you can put them anywhere you like.

  80. <Sound & Animation>
  81.  
  82. You can choose your own animation and sound files which you want to
  83. display when there are new mails in your mail box.
  84.  
  85. The program looks fine on 1024x768 HiColor screen. At least 800x600
  86. 256 color is recommended. You can change the animation that will be 
  87. displayed when new mails coming. The animation must be a 200x150 avi
  88. file. There is an avi file included in the E-Check pack.

  90. If there are new mails coming in, the animation will be displayed on the
  91. screen. By checking 'Stay on top' option, you can make it always be the
  92. topest window. Double click on it will bring up the minimized main window 
  93. and close this animation. Sound can be disabled by checking the 'No Sound'
  94. option.

  96. <E-Mail Program>
  97.  
  98. You can assign a E-Mail program like Eudora and turn on the auto load 
  99. function. After this, the program will be loaded by E-Check automatically
  100. to help you reply the new mails. Also, you can load it by click the load
  101. button.

  103. <Highlight Keywords>
  104.  
  105. You can set three keywords and their colors in option page. If one of 
  106. the keywords are found in 'From' or 'Subject' of your mail, the color
  107. will be changed to notify you.
  108.  
  109. <Delete Mails>
  110.  
  111. You can delete a mail by selecting delete from main menu, popup menu or
  112. button bar. Then the mail will be marked by a 'x'. It will not be deleted
  113. until the next check. Before this, you can use 'undo delete' to unmark
  114. all mails. If you check up the 'Auto Delete' option, all mails on the
  115. server will be deleted automatically.

  117. <Viewer>
  118.  
  119. If you want to view a mail, just double click on it. Turn on 'Auto View'
  120. will automatically download new mails for you. You can open many viewer 
  121. at the same time. Check the 'No Header' option will erase the header of 
  122. mail. If you press the print button in the viewer, the content will be 
  123. printed.
  124.  
  125. Mails that were encoded by Quoted-Printable and BASE64 format will be
  126. decode automatically. Other MIME format maybe cause some problems. Mails
  127. that are greater than 64k bytes will not be displayed.

  129. <Modem>
  130.  
  131. All settings are in the option page 'Dial up'. Be sure to check the
  132. 'Enable dial up'. 'Check only when connected' decide if E-Check should
  133. dial up for you when you are off-line. You can also setup redial times
  134. and redial interval. If you want to dial up manually, you can click the
  135. 'Dial' button on the dock bar.
